In 2007, Ranger Protection Agency was founded by Brian Kelley and the late David Jarrett out of desperation, not inspiration, after years of frustration with local law enforcement and private security companies that, at the time, offered little to no help cleaning up properties they owned, controlled, and managed.
Recognizing the need for a proactive, results-driven private security firm, Brian and David began forming a proactive, results-driven approach to protecting properties throughout Austin and surrounding communities.

Residents can report suspicious activity, security concerns, and property-related issues through Ranger's dedicated 24-hour information hotline.
Our guided message system collects important details so the information can be documented and directed to the appropriate Ranger personnel.

REAL-TIME REPORTING
Ranger uses Belfry to document patrol activity, incidents, and property conditions with electronic reports and supporting photographs.
Geofencing helps verify on-site activity, while time-and-date-stamped photos provide additional accountability. Authorized clients can review information through the secure client portal.

FLEXIBLE SECURITY SERVICES
Every property faces different challenges. Ranger offers daytime mobile patrol, nighttime mobile patrol, standing on-site officers, and combinations of services based on the property's specific needs.
Coverage can be adjusted as conditions change, allowing clients to increase security when needed or reduce coverage as problems stabilize.

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A RANGER.
We're always seeking steady and dependable individuals to serve as uniformed Ranger Protection Agency officers for mobile and foot patrol assignments. Security service is a challenging and demanding job, but it is also rewarding work that makes a positive difference in our communities.
HIGH EXPECTATIONS
Officers must accurately complete detailed reports, know the properties they serve, document activity, and provide clients and residents with accurate, timely information.
DEMANDING WORK
Security work is physically and mentally demanding. Officers may stand and walk for extended periods, patrol in varying environments, and work in difficult weather and overnight conditions.
STATE REQUIREMENTS
Officers must meet applicable Texas Department of Public Safety private security licensing and registration requirements, maintain required credentials, and comply with renewal obligations.
VIEW DPS REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
All positions have minimum equipment requirements. Officers must possess the necessary authorized equipment, maintain it properly, and report for duty prepared for their assignment.
COMMISSIONED OFFICERS
Commissioned assignments have additional licensing, training, and equipment requirements.

Ranger Protection Agency conducts ongoing in-house training for our officers to reinforce company policy, field procedures, report writing, officer safety, vehicle approaches, de-escalation, documentation standards, and the Ranger methods used in the field.
Our training is designed to prepare officers for the real-world challenges they encounter while protecting the properties and communities entrusted to Ranger.
Active Ranger officers and authorized personnel assigned online training can access their required courses through the secure training portal.
